Although petite-sized, our shop is packed with a wide range of gifts and all are reasonably priced. Kid-friendly items are reasonably priced (most items are 50 cents to $5) such as excavation kits, fossils, mood rings, whale magnets, plush Orca Whales, and historical toys including Jacob’s ladders and marbles.
Members receive a 10% discount on all purchases.
Best of all, your purchase supports an organization dedicated to Long Island history and whale conservation!
Teachers and Educators: If there is not enough time to allow students the option of visiting the shop, we will happily arrange affordable take-home souvenirs for your students. Let us know what you would like to spend per student, and we will have these ready for you after your visit.

We have Made in the USA miniature bottles with pirate gems, real sand dollars, and genuine shark tooth fossils. In addition we have a wonderful selection of mini glow in the dark glass jellyfish, glass starfish and sand dollars, and decorative whaling towels just to name a few items.

The Sailing Circle 19th Century Seafaring Women from New York by Joan Druett and Mary AnneWallace This book was published in 1995 by the Three Village Historical Society & the Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum. It is about the special women who sailed with their captain husbands on merchant ships and whalers to keep their families intact. The Window to the Street by Harriet G. Valentine This book is based on the diary of Helen Rogers who grew up at 6 Spring Street, Cold Spring Harbor. Helen started the diary in 1843 when she was fifteen years old and in addition to describing how people dressed, the food they ate, recipes and who got married she also recorded when whaling vessels and other boats came into the harbor. by Frederick P. Schmitt Frederick P. Schmitt was the fourth Curator of the Cold Spring Harbor Whaling Museum from 1971-1981. This well-written book, published in 1971 and again in 1986, tells the story of the whaling industry in Cold Spring Harbor including the founders, the whalemen, and the whaleships. The author poured over a staggering amount of original local documents, including whaling logs and journals, to tell the story of the nine ships which sailed from Cold Spring Harbor around the world in search of whales.
